Cookies

Hi there..

I'm here again with my latest adventure in kitchen - Cookies.

Oflate, i've been doing so much baking and getting good reviews from everybody. Good reviews in the sense, they are eatable and good to taste. But i believe (read: everbody) that i've to go a long way to get the perfection in the areas like, presentation, finishing etc.,. So, i've decided to take one step at a time and starting learning the basic recipes of baking.

I don't have a convection mode owen, yet i want to try if i can make the cookies and cakes in a Microwave. I've been trying to do cake, cookies, and muffins in the microwave. So far, apart from cooking and reheating i did eggless cake, muffins and now its cookies. They all turned out to be tasty but not matching up with the bakery products we get from shops.

I'm not a cook who does everything by plan. So, usually i end up taking no photos of my trials. I try very hard to go by a process / stick to a plan and take the snaps in an order, but in vain. Every time, i end up adding few more things which were not on the list and which were not clicked, thinking that would add some taste, color etc., to the recipe. Thats the reason, i post my photos later.

Ok..let me take you through my cookies recipe. As usual, no photos yet.

Ingredients:

Maida Half cup
Sugar Half cup
Baking powder 1 tsp
Baking soda 1 tsp
Butter 50gms
Milk 2 spoons

Since mine is a trial, i took very little amount of ingredients and prepared two batches of cookies (10 to 12 medium sized cookies each time)

Method

Sift Maida, Baking powder, baking soda for an even mixing.
Take & softened butter in a bowl and add powdered sugar and mix well
Add Maida mixture & milk to the Butter.
Make the dough (like chapathi dough) by kneading.
Keep the dough aside for 10 mins
Take a small lemon sized ball in to your hands and knead it well to form a ball
Press in the center of the ball to form a flat round cookies
Keep them on a tray with an inch gap between each cookie
Microwave them for 6 to 7 minutes at 80 % power.
let them cool for complete 10 mins before taking them out.

And here is the photograph of my cookies and the photos explaining method are coming soon.

Notes:

I have used Microwave for making these cookies.

Since i don't know, whether i can keep any aluminium  tray or any other material in microwave. Also, i don't know, if i can bake them in grill mode on the high rack. So, i've used a correlle plate for baking these cookies and it took a good 7 minutes to get the right texture and shape.

I've split the 7 minute cooking in to 2. Cook for 5 minutes at 80% power and cook for 2 minutes at 60% power.

I made the dough in to two portions and added orange and yellow colors and hence the color for the final product
While making balls, took some from each color dough and mixed it to get a mixed color for each cookie.

Hope you liked it.

Have a good day..

Usha
